What? A FREE ADMISSION Pittsburgh-area gaming convention, for board games, RPGs, card games, and miniatures, featuring game demos, tournaments, and other special events. Vendors will be present selling games, food, and sports and movie memorabilia. When? CHUCK-a-CON begins on Saturday, October 2nd at 9:00 a.m. to midnight, and continues on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. til close. Where? The Hat Trick at Robert Morris University Island Sports Center, Neville Island, is 14 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, and just across the bridge from Coraopolis, PA. The Hat Trick, located next to the river and naturally lit by big windows, will accomodate up to approximately 150 gamers. The convention space is located on the second floor, with access by either stair or elevator. On the riverside, is a large canvas-covered patio with tables for eating outside, smoking, or a quiet break from gaming.
Why? Why a Gaming Convention instead of a day at the game store or your gaming friend's house? Here is a handful of good reasons to CON:
Pre-registrations? FREE online pre-registration will open on September 1st, 2010, just before the world ends! Space is limited, and those who pre-register will receive priority for admisson and events for which they preregister. You must pre-register for the convention before pre-registering for events. Admission badges for CHUCK-a-CON pre-registrants will be picked up at the door! Cost? "So I said, hey, how about a FREE ADMISSION game convention?" Chuck has gone crazy! CHUCK-a-CON is a FREE gaming convention supported entirely by sales! Halloween is coming, but there is no trick here: There are NO PER EVENT FEES either! SO come out and play, play, play! Note that you must pre-register for the Convention before pre-registering for events. Children fourteen years and younger are admitted only with admission of accompanying supervising adult! Food & Bevvy? Gamer Grub, snacks and sodas (Pepsi products) will be available on-site. Additionally, downstairs there is a "pizza place" type resturant that was very popular last year and a Subway Sandwich Shop and other resturants are nearby. Alcohol will not be sold, served or allowed in the Convention area. Parking & Lodging? Parking is free and plentiful right next to the Convention. There are at least three hotels or inns located on Neville Island within 1.5 miles of the Convention. Additionally, there are other places just across the river.
