![]() In the summer of 1940, a Reich meant to last a Thousand Years confronted an Empire Upon Which the Sun Did Not Set. One magnificent weapon, first conceived as a private venture in 1934, proved decisive. In the skies over London, and in the years to follow, a shout of "Achtung - Spitfire!" was invariably followed by shattering losses. Achtung - Spitfire! is the second offering in our Fighting Wings series of games depicting aerial combat in WWII. This volume simulates tactical air to air, and air to ground combat over Europe from 1940 to 1943. More than just plane to plane combat, Achtung - Spitfire! has a clever mission generator that allows players to recreate famous missions and even campaign games. Designed by J. D. Webster, this game brings the same flavor to the opening years of WWII aerial combat that Volume I, Over the Reich, does to the closing years. Achtung - Spitfire! comes loaded and ready to fly with 280 counters, 24 aircraft data cards, one 34" x 22" double sided map, and a programmed instruction rulesbook to get you up and flying as soon as possible. ![]() |

![]() Check Your 6! "It is the man, not the machine." -Chuck Yeager CHECK YOUR 6! (CY6!) is an exciting new set of WWII air combat rules from SkirmishCampaigns. CY6! has been in development for two years and the rules are a joint effort between author Scott Fisher (ARC of FIRE, SkirmishCampaigns) and the dauntless Chris Pringle (TAC-WWII), Mark Fastoso (Colonial Campaigns), Buck Surdu (BAPS, Gaslight), CB Stevens, Alvin Gunkel, Jerry Frazee, Tom Poston, Nick Murray and former U.S.A.F. Thunderbird pilot Rob Givens.
SIMPLICITY: The key design goal for CY6! was to maximize pilot influence and historical accuracy while keeping the game relatively easy to play. Since players plot moves simultaneously, the game can easily accommodate large numbers of aircraft by increasing the number of players. All of the key game charts are on two sides of one 8" x 11" chart. ![]() TURNS: Turns are plotted in advance (similar to the old Blue Max system), so large games are possible; at Cold Wars 2006, one game with 12 players and completed it in less than 2 hours. ![]() PILOT SKILL: CY6! has four pilot skills, +0 (Green), +1 (Skilled), +2 (Veteran) and +3 (Ace). Pilot skill is critical to success. In CY6! players will quickly find out that if one is inexperienced one should avoid enemy aces at all costs! Pilot skill is the most important aspect in the game (a factor lacking in a surprising number of air games). CY6! truly reflects the words of Chuck Yeager, “It is the man, not the machine.” ![]() SCALE: Any scale models may be used. CY6! was play tested with 1/600, 1/144, 1/300 and 1/72 aircraft. ![]() WEAPONS: Weapons types are: LMG/MMG, HMG, Low-Velocity Cannon, Modern Cannon, Low-Velocity Heavy Cannon and Heavy Cannon. Heavy Cannon may be modified by Low, Very Low and Extremely Low rate of fire. ![]() AIRCRAFT: Aircraft have two sets of attributes, one for low-med altitude and one for high (20,000ft +) altitude. Attributes are: Maneuver, Max Speed, Agility, Climb/Dive, Acceleration and Robustness. ![]() MOVEMENT: Movement is handled via hexes and maneuver charts illustrating possible maneuvers for each speed level. The game features 3D maneuvers and has several Operational Altitude Bands (CABs); within each is six Tactical Altitude Levels (TAL). ![]() COVERAGE: Basic rules will cover aircraft combat from 1925-1947 and will include rules for early jet aircraft (Korean War supplement will be released at a later date). All statistics for key aircraft of the Axis and Allied powers will be included with the CY6! rule book. ![]() SCENARIOS: The Check Your 6! rulebook contains over 20 scenarios.

![]() The book covers the air war over Hungary from March 1944 to the end of the war. In 26 scenarios, it effectively provides two campaigns in one cover. The first half pits the Royal Hungarian Air Force against the US 15th AAF's strategic bombing campaign. In the second half the Hungarians contest the sky with the Red Air Force as the Red Army overruns Hungary. The book has been prepared in close collaboration with professional Hungarian military historian Csaba Becze, and draws heavily on the uniquely valuable information he has obtained in over 15 years of interviewing veterans and researching in Hungarian, German, Russian and US archives. Much of the information in the book will therefore be made available for the first time in English, or indeed, in any published form. As well as clearly portraying the evolution of the two campaigns, the book features appearances by many aces including the war's top ace Erich Hartmann, the famous Hans-Ulrich Rudel's Stukageschwader, the "Tuskegee Airmen", and a Soviet artillery observation balloon.
